Are you a candidate for EECP treatment?

Find out if you are a candidate for EECP treatment.

You may be a candidate to EECP treatment if:

  • You have been told that you are not a candidate for bypass surgery or angioplasty
  • You suffer from angina
  • Nitroglycerin fails to provide relief from your angina
  • You underwent bypass surgery or angioplasty in the past, and angina has returned
  • You want to explore all treatment options

Only a physician can make a decision regarding whether or not you are a candidate for EECP treatment.
If you are eligible to receive EECP treatment you receive the treatment schedule. Treatment usually lasts one hour a day for five days a week and seven weeks. You may wish to read a book or a magazine while you receive your EECP treatment. Although treatment usually takes an hour you may spend up to1 and a 1/2 hours at the EECP treatment center.

Receiving EECP treatment

Your therapist will weigh you and take your blood pressure when you arrive at the EECP treatment Center. You will lay on a padded table while three electrodes are applied to your chest.  A finger sensor will be placed over your finger to record blood pressure.

You will wrap a set of inflatable cuffs around your legs that create a sensation of a strong “hug” moving upwards on your legs during inflation and then a rapid release of pressure. The EECP treatment is synchronized with your heartbeat.

Clinical studies indicate that EECP treatment may develop a type of “natural bypass” that allows blood to flow around blocked arteries. These arteries eventually become permanent path for blood to reach heart muscle that was deprived.
